Where to Start

Which unit should you start with? Or what should you do next?

There are several options on how to choose a True North History Unit.

Pick the Order that Works Best for Your Family!

Pick Any Unit!

You can browse the titles and pick anything that sparks your interest.

Chronological Order

You can do many of the units in chronological order. Start at the beginning of time and then move forward as you please.

Follow the Schools

You can also do units that correspond with the school system and what topics are being covered in which grades.

Chronological Order

My favourite way to teach history is in chronological order.

It helps children make connections and see how past events affect future ones.

Here's my recommendation on the chronological order of units.

  1. Canadian Geography

  2. Coming to Canada: How People Came to Canada

  3. Start of a Nation: New France and British North America

School Order

If you want to stick closely to the school system and match the topics your child's grade you can also do that.

Here are the units that match with the various grades according to Ontario Public School curriculum as of September 2024.

Grade 3 - Start of A Nation

Grade 4 - Canadian Geography

Grade 5 - Start of a Nation

Grade 6-

Grade 7- Coming to Canada & Start of a Nation

Grade 8-
